Do You Know?
Our first unit in Science this year is Homes for Animals.  We will learn what an animal needs to live and the different places, habitats, where animals meet their needs.  We will also discuss what happens when an animal can't meet its needs in its habitat.

This unit will also cover ways that an animal looks that helps them survive. (adaptation)

In the Food Chain we will learn the order in which animals eat plants and other animals.

In second quarter we will explore the 3 states of matter.  There are lots of opportunities for experiments in this unit.  It should be a real blast.  Well, not a real blast, but still a fun and hands on unit

Third quarter brings fossil and dinosaur hunting.  The students enjoy this unit on being a fossil hunter and discovering extinct creatures from millions of years in the past.  We learn where to look for fossils and how to infer what the fossil would have looked like when it was alive.  Depending on time and interest the students may create a dinosaur webpage.
